Don’t be fooled, it is still illegal!

August 11, 2021

Fellow Patriot,

The ATF just can’t help themselves.

For those who don’t remember, Texas’ new “Suppressor Freedom” law repealing the state criminalization of suppressor possession will go into effect on September 1st.

That means, under Texas law, any suppressors “Made in Texas” and remain in Texas will be exempt from federal regulations…in theory.

No more begging the Federal Government for permission or paying a tax to protect your ears for using a “Made in Texas” suppressor for your firearm at the range.

Or at least that was the intent.

Unsurprisingly, Joe Biden’s ATF disagrees.

The ATF is flexing its muscles by threatening Texas FFL dealers and telling them they must STILL bend the knee to the Federal Government when it comes to suppressors.

In fact, the ATF recently issued a letter to all Texas FFL dealers informing them that federal law reigns supreme over Texas’ “suppressor freedom” law.

Anyone not willing to go to jail should manufacture or possess a suppressor at their own risk.

Sadly, this was expected from the beginning.

After Kansas passed a similar law in recent years, Shane Cox — an otherwise law-abiding gun store owner — was found guilty of violating federal laws for the manufacture, sale, and possession of unregistered firearms and silencers.

One of his customers, Jeremy Kettler, was also found guilty on one count of possessing an unregistered silencer… even though it was “made in Kansas.”

Thankfully, both men only received probation and fines for their convictions after a lengthy court battle.

In spite of receiving support from the State Attorney General — and attempts to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court — President Trump encouraged the court to ignore the case.

And ignore it they did!

Under Texas’ new law, probation and a fine is the BEST case scenario anyone could hope for if they decide to exercise their newfound “Suppressor Freedom.”

But with a Biden-controlled ATF now in charge, I wouldn’t hold my breath!

That is exactly why Texas Gun Rights is fighting for a true Second Amendment Sanctuary law WITH TEETH.

A true Second Amendment Sanctuary law would empower local, county, and state law enforcement officials to throw federal agents in jail if they dare to infringe upon the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Texans!

That is why I hope you’ll chip in $15 or even $5 to help TXGR continue fighting to defend the Second Amendment in Texas!

It was only because of YOUR support — through pressure on your elected officials and generous financial contributions — that Texas finally became the 21st Constitutional Carry state.

Only with your continued support will we make sure Texas remains a beacon of hope for pro-gun patriots across America!

Thank you for your dedication and vigilance.

Gun Rights champion elected as Texas Republican Party Chair

July 15, 2021

Fellow Patriot,

I’ve got great news!

Pro-gun former legislator Matt Rinaldi was elected as the new Texas Republican Party Chair.

Rinaldi is replacing outgoing Chair, LT. Col. Allen West, who partnered with TXGR for the Constitutional Carry fight in Texas.

Texas Gun Rights is happy to see Matt Rinaldi chosen as the new Chair.

This move could be a good sign for things to come in Texas, as Rinaldi fought for several pro-gun issues while he was a State Representative, including open carry and Constitutional Carry.

Not only that, but it was Matt Rinaldi who authored Texas’ “Church Carry” law, which ultimately saved many parishioners at the White Settlement Church of Christ just a few short years ago.

But as we know, Rinaldi’s election will not be enough to reign in anti-gun Republicans determined to compromise with anti-gun Democrats.

To have a strong voice in the Texas Legislature next session, pro-gun Texans must continue sending a loud message to politicians that they expect them to defend and restore the Second Amendment… and we must continue shining a light on legislators who dare try to compromise your rights away!

And with the huge Constitutional Carry win, you can bet that deep-pocketed Democrats from across the country have their targets fixed on Texas.

With anti-gunners like Beto O’Rourke and Matthew McConaughey plotting a run for Governor, you can bet Texas’ “gun freedom” will be at risk.

But the good news is Rinaldi’s chairmanship is further proof that gun rights continue to be a winning issue in Texas.

So candidates must know that if they run as a “conservative Republican,” supporting gun rights are non-negotiable.

But it is not enough to hide behind bloated ratings from the establishment gun lobby without fighting.

All legislators and candidates are expected to stand publically against ALL gun control in Texas: NO COMPROMISE!

With elections around the corner, Texans will no doubt hear from many Republican candidates claiming to be “pro-Second Amendment,” but to secure more pro-gun wins in the Lone Star State, the wheat must be separated from the chaff.

That is why I am so thankful for TXGR supporters like you, Fellow Patriot.

Without your support, conservative Texans would be left defenseless against the onslaught of political spending from the likes of Michael Bloomberg and Texas would not be a Constitutional Carry state.

So please chip in $15 or even $5 to help TXGR keep fighting for your gun rights in Austin!

Texas is in a prime spot for more pro-gun wins — but ONLY if we hold politicians accountable for their stance on gun rights, regardless of party.

Forcing BAD politicians to do GOOD things!

June 18, 2021

Constitutional Carry HB 1927 was FINALLY signed into law, after years of foot-dragging, roadblocks, and excuses from the spineless political class.

In fact, your Texas Gun Rights was at the bill signing ceremony at the Alamo to celebrate this historic event.

Of course, Governor Abbott is no fan of Texas Gun Rights nor the political pressure we generated on the entire legislature to pass Constitutional Carry.

For years, the Republican-dominated legislature did everything in their power to kill Constitutional Carry.

But after the pressure pro-gun Texans created this year, it was made clear they could not take the heat for killing Constitutional Carry yet again.

Just look at the pressure you helped us generate in 2021:

Over 10,000,000 emails sent, asking pro-gun Texans to take action for Constitutional Carry.

Over 200,000 text messages deployed, encouraging individuals to call and email their legislators.

Nearly 150,000 pieces of mail delivered, encouraging folks to sign petitions and call Capitol offices.

Almost 120,000 Constitutional Carry petitions delivered to ALL 150 State Representatives.

Over 110,000 phone numbers dialed, connecting pro-gun patriots to the Capitol offices of their legislators.

49 radio ads placed encouraging Governor Abbott to sign Constitutional Carry into law

Weeks spent at the Capitol by TXGR staff, working the halls, meeting with legislators, and testifying in key committees.

You helped us generate so much pressure that Governor Abbott decided TXGR Executive Director Chris McNutt was the ONLY person NOT welcome at the bill signing ceremony at the Alamo.

In fact, Abbott’s staff removed him from the ceremony — claiming he was a political threat.

How pathetic!

That’s why I was happy to personally inform <s>Governor</s> King Abbott I was not pleased with his pettiness:

Look, Abbott signing the bill was a great thing FOR HIM — but his signature wasn’t required.

Constitutional Carry would have become law WITHOUT his signature as long as he did not veto it.

The truth is, Governor Abbott never lifted a finger for Constitutional Carry during his 8 years in office — and only broke his deafening silence when it proved politically expedient and its passage appeared inevitable.

That’s why he went over the top with theatrics by staging the ceremony at the Alamo — and inviting the institutional gun lobby to sing his praises.

The fact remains that mobilizing pro-gun Texans in support of Constitutional Carry is how we defeated Governor Abbott’s past calls for the study of “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation laws in 2018 and his “Gun Control Roadshow” with Lt. Governor Dan Patrick in 2019, promoting gun control across the state.

So while we should celebrate this historic gun rights victory, let’s not forget the real credit belongs to YOU.

Without the constant pressure of Texas Gun Rights members and supporters across the state, this victory simply would not have been possible.

The truth is, you don’t need good politicians to make good policy. You just need to FORCE bad politicians to do good things.

That’s exactly what YOU helped us accomplish in 2021!

Thank you for your continued activism and support.

For Liberty,

Bethany Young
Legislative Director
Texas Gun Rights
