Barry Arrington

Former Chairman of the Board

Barry Arrington is a constitutional attorney and longtime defender of the Second Amendment who previously served as Chairman of the Board of Texas Gun Rights. During his tenure, Arrington played an important role in helping guide the organization’s legal strategy and long-term mission to defend and restore the right to keep and bear arms for Texans.

With nearly four decades of legal experience, Arrington has built a distinguished career in constitutional law, civil litigation, and the defense of individual liberties. His work has focused extensively on protecting the First and Second Amendments, and he has argued cases in both state and federal courts while helping shape legal strategies aimed at challenging unconstitutional government overreach.

In addition to his leadership role at Texas Gun Rights, Arrington served as Chief Legal Counsel for the National Association for Gun Rights, where he helped lead national litigation efforts defending the rights of law-abiding Americans. His experience uniquely combines legal advocacy, public policy, and grassroots activism within the broader gun rights movement.

Arrington also previously served as a member of the Colorado House of Representatives, bringing valuable legislative insight to his work defending constitutional freedoms.

In February 2026, Arrington stepped down as Chairman of the Texas Gun Rights Board to accept a position with the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division’s Second Amendment Section, where he continues his work defending Americans’ constitutional rights at the federal level.

Arrington graduated with honors from the University of Texas School of Law and has practiced law since 1987.

Texas Gun Rights is deeply grateful for Barry’s years of leadership, service, and unwavering commitment to the Second Amendment. His contributions helped strengthen the organization and advance the fight to protect the constitutional rights of Texans — a legacy that continues to shape the mission of Texas Gun Rights today.
