On October 4th, Texas Gun Rights reported that Kamala Harris, while serving as the District Attorney of San Francisco, threw her support behind a ballot measure known as Proposition H that effectively banned the sale, possession, or manufacture of all firearms within city limits. Newly resurfaced audio from a discussion with the Commonwealth Club of California reveals that Kamala supported this ballot measure despite knowing that it was most certainly unconstitutional. This brazen act of disregard for the God-given liberties of American citizens serve to provide a glimpse into how the Vice President would govern if given total executive authority.
Proposition H, the San Francisco firearm ban, was enacted by popular mandate in 2005, but was thrown out by a California state appeals court 3 years later. It was found to have violated a state preeminence law that limited the restrictions local municipalities could place on gun ownership, and the city was forced to pay hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars in retributive fees. Later that year, the Supreme Court case Heller v. D.C. overruled and nullified a similar firearms ban in Washington D.C., which Kamala Harris additionally supported.
In her discussion with the Commonwealth Club, moderator Mary Cranston asked Kamala Harris, “In a city like San Francisco, with our history, is there any justification for anyone to carry a gun, except for law enforcement, and why not ban them completely in the city?” In response, Kamala compared gun confiscation and prohibition to “ending world hunger,” assigning senses of imperative necessity and moral responsibility to the task, but also unrealistic idealism. With this answer, voters are given a clear picture of Kamala’s true feelings towards gun ownership, believing it to be as reprehensible as starvation.
Kamala continued, “Well, there’s been a measure on the ballot actually to do that, and it’s currently being challenged. There’s a question about its constitutionality because, of course, the Constitution of the United States says that we do have a right to legally possess firearms.”
Surprisingly, this response confirms that Kamala actually has read and does understand the text found within the 2nd Amendment. At the same time, it also horrifyingly confirms just how little abiding by the Constitution truly means to her. She ardently supported Proposition H and actively encouraged her supporters to do so as well, knowing full well that the law was unconstitutional.
It should be noted that former San Francisco Mayor and current radical left Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, refused to amplify support for this measure, nor did the late California Senator and fellow far leftist, Diane Feinstein. Even they believed, at least symbolically through their withholding of support, that this proposition was a step too far, and a flagrant violation of Constitutional rights. All gun owners must be full warned that Kamala Harris is as far left and anti-2nd Amendment as politicians come.
This is, of course, not the only instance where Kamala Harris has grossly disregarded the Constitution in the pursuit of her communistic goals. When running for president in 2020, Kamala’s campaign was essentially centered around gun confiscation, calling for Australia style, mandatory gun buybacks. In addition to “assault weapons” bans, Kamala also supports Red Flag Laws, which allow Americans to be stripped of their rights to due process. Most egregiously, Kamala has vowed to take executive action in banning and confiscating firearms should congress fail to do so within the first 100 days of her very possible presidency.
Despite her tonal and rhetorical moderation throughout the 2024 election season, gun owners can be assured that her values and beliefs towards gun ownership have not changed. She is merely doing and saying whatever she needs in order to win, as fellow socialist Senator Bernie Sanders admitted. Kamala Harris has no regard or respect for the U.S. Constitution and the God-given rights listed therein, and her record has shown that she is more than willing to tyrannically circumvent it to achieve her goals.
If Kamala Harris wins the presidency, there will be little means for preventing her onslaught against the 2nd Amendment. She has vowed to terminate the Filibuster, which would enable packing of the Supreme Court with activist justices that abide by her unconstitutional philosophy of governance. There has never been a greater threat to Americans’ right to keep and bear arms than is faced right now.
