In the Senate District 9 special election, a pro-John Huffman PAC — American Jobs and Growth PAC — sent voters a mass text message featuring a photoshopped image of opponent Leigh Wambsganss wearing an inverted cross around her neck.

The PAC behind the message has long been tied to efforts to legalize casino gambling in Texas — and is aligned with candidate John Huffman, whose campaign has been bankrolled by foreign-linked casino money.
That connection earned him the nickname “China John” among grassroots conservatives, after financial reports revealed that over 93% of his campaign funding came from entities tied to Las Vegas Sands, a company now operating under the oversight of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in Macau.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick: “A Satanic Attack”
Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick condemned the attack in a powerful statement on X (formerly Twitter), calling it “despicable and disgraceful.”
Patrick noted that the photo had been digitally altered and said:
“This attack by her opponent, John Huffman, is satanic… We are seeing darkness and evil on full display in this race.”
He urged Texans to reject such smear tactics and reminded voters that faith and freedom are under fire — not just in D.C., but right here in Texas.

The use of doctored religious imagery to vilify opponents marks another escalation in America’s worsening culture of political dehumanization.
Just weeks after Charlie Kirk’s assassination by a leftist extremist, and a string of other politically motivated attacks, this kind of moral rot in campaigning only fans the flames of division.
When political operatives are demonizing opponents with Satanic imagery, it’s not just toxic politics — it’s a warning sign of what happens when truth, faith, and freedom are replaced by propaganda.
Chris McNutt: “China John Should Stop Hiding and Go on Record”
Chris McNutt, President of Texas Gun Rights, issued a strong statement condemning the attack and calling for transparency:
“This kind of grotesque smear is beneath Texans. John Huffman should publicly condemn it, reject foreign-funded PAC money, and stop hiding behind Chinese casino cash. It’s time he went on record for gun rights — something every honest Republican in Texas should be proud to do.”
McNutt noted that Huffman has refused to return his Texas Gun Rights Candidate Survey, while dozens of other candidates across Texas have completed it — going on record about their positions on Red Flag laws, gun bans, and so-called “gun-free zones.”
“When a candidate refuses to answer simple questions about the Second Amendment — and won’t even mention gun rights on his campaign website — Texans have every reason to ask what he’s hiding,” McNutt added.
In contrast, Leigh Wambsganss has returned her TXGR survey 100% pro-gun and stood side-by-side with gun owners in Austin to help pass historic pro-gun legislation, including the ban on Red Flag laws and the repeal of the foster parent gun registry.
The Path Forward: Accountability, Not Silence
The people of Senate District 9 deserve straight answers — not PAC smears and political theater funded by foreign interests.
Texas Gun Rights encourages all Texans who care about the Second Amendment to demand transparency from every candidate — including John Huffman.
Ask him directly to return his Texas Gun Rights Candidate Survey and make his position on gun rights known before voters head to the polls.
Early voting is already underway and ends Friday, October 31. Election Day is Tuesday, November 4.
