For decades, blue states like California, Illinois, and Massachusetts have erased Republican representation through hyper-partisan gerrymanders.
California Republicans, who make up 38% of voters, hold barely 20% of congressional seats. In Massachusetts, 36% of the vote equals zero seats.
By comparison, Texas Republicans currently win around 55% of the vote but hold 66% of the state’s delegation — hardly extreme.
With the new map, Texas will still fall short of California-style Democrat dominance.
Gun Grabbers Tried to Stop It
When quorum-busting Democrats fled Austin last month to block the maps, they weren’t just running from redistricting. They were running to protect the anti-gun agenda of leaders like Gene Wu, the caucus chair who spearheaded the walkout and is one of the most radical gun control advocates in Texas.
They were bankrolled by none other than Beto O’Rourke and the Soros-funded Texas Majority PAC, who would love nothing more than to see weak Republicans or outright Democrats take these new seats and carry their gun control agenda to Washington.
Not Guaranteed Pro-Gun
The truth is, while these five new Republican seats should be pro-gun, there’s no guarantee.
Washington is full of Republicans who buckle to pressure and betray their voters. Just look at Sen. John Cornyn, who recently surrendered to Democrats on the deregulation of suppressors and short-barreled firearms — and has repeatedly teamed up with Democrats to pass outright gun control (even though he’s suffered a recent bout of amnesia on the issue).
That’s why Texas Gun Rights is making it a top priority to put every candidate for these new districts on the record — to make sure they pledge uncompromising loyalty to the Second Amendment.
This redistricting fight isn’t “rigging elections.”
It’s restoring balance after decades of Democrat gerrymanders in blue states.
But make no mistake: unless Texans hold these new candidates accountable, the seats could still go to swamp Republicans who sell out our rights.
As TXGR President Chris McNutt put it:
“Gun grabbers don’t hesitate to redraw maps to silence us in blue states. In Texas, we must ensure redistricting strengthens our fight for the Second Amendment — not weakens it.”
Five new seats. A new battlefield. And one clear mission: make them pro-gun.
Will you stand with Texas Gun Rights in the trenches?
