Donald Trump’s historic victory on November 5, 2024, presents gun rights activists another opportunity to usher in solid pro-gun reforms at the federal level.
In addition to Trump’s defeat of Vice President Kamala Harris, Republicans are expected to take back the Senate with a 53-seat majority. As of November 8, 2024, Republicans hold a 211-199 advantage in the House.
Should these results hold, this will be the first time since the 114th Congress (2017-2019) that Republicans will enjoy a trifecta in the branches of government at the federal level. With Republicans in control, it’s time to take advantage of this unique moment in American political history. The voters have clearly rejected the Harris-Walz ticket’s radical gun control proposals, such as assault weapons bans and universal background checks.
The voters have granted Republicans a mandate to carry out the will of grassroots conservatives, who are demanding steadfast leadership on the issue of gun rights. It is no secret that the US is becoming more dangerous every day. With news surfacing that the FBI has been manipulating data to mask the rise of violent crime under the Biden regime’s watch, Americans have every reason to distrust legacy institutions. More importantly, Americans deserve to know they have the right to self-defense.
Furthermore, legacy institutions have demonized law enforcement and other first responders. They are guilty of undermining law enforcement agencies and have prompted unprecedented numbers of police officers to retire in recent years. Many Americans simply can’t rely on law enforcement to defend them and their property.
Unsurprisingly, citizens have resorted to arming themselves to confront the harsh reality of surging crime. However, many Americans living in anti-gun, blue states are vulnerable compared to their neighbors in red states, who, thanks to the passage of Constitutional Carry, have witnessed their gun rights expand over the last decade.
To rectify this situation, we must elect solid political leadership at the federal level to pass pro-gun measures. Republicans squandered their previous trifecta during Trump’s first term in office. Trump himself fell to the DC Swamp when he got the Justice Department to ban bump stocks in 2018. However, Trump redeemed himself with his judicial appointments to the Supreme Court, leading to the landmark New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen Supreme Court decision and the Court’s eventual decision to overturn the bump stock ban.
The litigation process has been kind to gun owners in recent years. However, our political leaders must step up and pass measures that roll back the litany of gun control measures the federal government has imposed on Americans over the last century.
For decades, Republican lawmakers have betrayed grassroots conservatives by campaigning on limited government values but doing nothing of substance once in office. The good news is that the political constellations have aligned in our favor, with Republicans set to control all branches of government.
Now is the time for grassroots gun rights activists to turn up the heat and exert maximum pressure on their elected officials. Should Republicans fail to carry out the will of the voters, we must send them packing and elect principled challengers in the primary elections.
No more complacency. No more compromise. No more excuses. It’s time to go on offense and demand 100% protection of the Second Amendment.
