GOP Establishment Panics Following Tony Gonzales Affair-Suicide Allegations

The swamp is churning, and this time, it’s in the Lone Star State.

New information out of Uvalde has cast a dark shadow over Texas Congressman Tony Gonzales (R-TX-23) — already in a heated primary battle against Texas Gun Rights PAC-endorsed Brandon Herrera — as allegations swirl that Gonzales was involved in an extramarital affair with his own staffer, Regina Santos-Aviles, who recently killed herself by setting herself on fire outside her home.

Conflicting Accounts, But One Deafening Silence

The late Santos-Aviles’s mother has denied the affair, saying rumors of a relationship between her daughter and the congressman are “hurtful and untrue.”

But her husband confirmed the affair, telling reporters that his wife had confessed to the relationship months before her death, leading to their separation.

Meanwhile, a representative for Gonzales has refused to deny the allegations, issuing only a carefully worded statement that left more questions than answers:”

“To see political bottom feeders distort the circumstances around her passing is truly sickening. Congressman Gonzales remains laser-focused on delivering historic achievements for Texas and condemns any attempts to misuse this tragedy.”

It’s the kind of polished D.C. non-response that reeks of damage control — and Texans are taking notice.

Adding fuel to the fire — literally and figuratively — is the Uvalde Police Chief, who endorsed Tony Gonzales’s re-election campaign earlier this year and whose department is leading the investigation into Santos-Aviles’s death.

Despite public outcry, the chief has refused to release video footage from the scene, claiming “ongoing investigation.”

But sources in Uvalde say the Rangers have already determined that no one else was present when the blaze began — making the secrecy look more like protection than procedure.

Establishment Panic in Washington

Rumors are now swirling around Capitol Hill that the GOP Establishment is scrambling to find a replacement for Gonzales.

Insiders believe the congressman is “politically finished” and may drop out of the race soon to avoid further embarrassment for party leadership.

And with Brandon Herrera — the outspoken pro-gun champion backed by Texas Gun Rights PAC — surging in grassroots support, Gonzales’s collapse could shift one of Texas’s most hotly contested seats from RINO hands back to a real conservative fighter.

Let’s not forge in June 2022, after the tragic Robb Elementary School shooting in his district, Gonzales broke with many the Majority of House Republicans and voted in favor of the Biden-Cornyn led Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which expanded the gun registry, funded state “red flag” gun confiscation laws, and gave the ATF its perceived power to expand its war on gun owners.

Now, in a stunning twist of poetic justice, the establishment’s “safe bet” in South Texas is becoming their biggest liability.

The truth always finds a way out — and when it does, no amount of D.C. spin or police-chief cover can stop it.
