Illegal Immigrant Crime Is Rising—And the Left Wants You Disarmed

Weatherford, TX — While the national media hand-wrings over the supposed dangers posed by law-abiding gun owners, a far more pressing threat continues to fester in plain sight—illegal immigrant crime.

According to newly surfaced federal and state-level data, illegal immigrants are committing crimes at disproportionately high rates.

But instead of addressing these dangers, leftist lawmakers are doubling down on open borders, police defunding, and civilian disarmament.

The Propaganda Gap: What Americans Believe vs. Reality

A recent McLaughlin & Associates poll, commissioned by the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC), found that only 33.3% of Americans believe illegal immigrants commit more crime than native-born citizens—despite mounting evidence showing otherwise.

That misconception is no accident; it’s the result of sustained political propaganda, selective media coverage, and flawed data collection practices by the FBI, which often omits immigration status in crime statistics.

But let’s look at the hard numbers.

In 2023, the Biden administration admitted that 9% of illegal immigrants released into the interior U.S. had known criminal records.

That translates to over 662,000 individuals, based on the estimated 7.4 million illegal crossings.

That figure doesn’t even include the roughly 2 million “gotaways”—those who slipped past Border Patrol undetected.

Progressive Blindness to a National Crisis

And the crime doesn’t stop at the border.

In Maricopa County, Arizona, illegal immigrants accounted for 21.8% of all felony convictions, despite comprising only a fraction of the population.

According to research conducted by the Arizona Department of Corrections, illegal aliens were 142% more likely to be convicted of crimes, with higher rates of murder, sexual assault, drug trafficking, and gang-related activity.

This is the inconvenient truth that mainstream progressives don’t want you to hear.

Instead, they champion “sanctuary cities,” oppose immigration enforcement, and even celebrate illegal immigrant demonstrations—such as the recent riots in Los Angeles, where agitators, some waving Mexican flags, shut down streets, clashed with police, and demanded permanent residency.

Another clear example of this crisis is the emergence of Tren de Aragua, a violent Venezuelan gang that crossed the southern border and has since taken over entire apartment complexes in American cities.

Their reign of terror—marked by extortion, drug smuggling, and murder—is the direct result of Biden-era immigration policies and local sanctuary protections.

Yet as this gang takes hold in communities across the country, the same politicians who welcomed them are working to disarm the very Americans who might one day need to defend themselves.

They cheered on Joe Biden’s ATF regulations, support so-called “universal background checks” (a.k.a. backdoor gun registries), and vilify armed citizens every chance they get.

It’s the height of cognitive dissonance: enabling violent criminals to enter the country while disarming the very people most likely to be victims.

Defund the Police, Disarm the People

And it gets worse.

The left’s crusade to defund the police, which swept across major cities in 2020 and 2021, has only exacerbated the problem.

In cities like Chicago, Austin, and Los Angeles, police departments are chronically understaffed, response times have soared, and crime continues to spike.

In 2024, Austin—after slashing its police budget—saw record levels of aggravated assault, and 911 callers were often told to wait for hours or file online reports.

The message is clear: you’re on your own.

Given this reality, the Second Amendment is not just a constitutional right—it’s a necessity.

When the government fails to protect its citizens and actively invites danger through lax immigration and policing policies, the people must have the tools to defend themselves.

Gun control advocates ignore this truth. They want you to believe that the real threat is your neighbor who owns a Glock or an AR-15.

Meanwhile, they excuse or ignore the criminal activity spilling across our border and onto our streets.

Their narrative collapses under scrutiny—but they count on Americans not looking too closely.

That’s why it’s critical that gun owners remain vigilant—not only in protecting their families, but in defending their rights at the ballot box and in court.

Because the same people telling you that you don’t need a gun are the ones who created the conditions that make owning one more essential than ever.
