Is Texas next?

Is Texas next?

March 15, 2019,

The 2019 session of the Texas Legislature is nearly halfway over.

Yet Texas politicians are doing all they can to maintain the status quo in Austin.

Instead of living up to the pro-gun words they campaigned on to get elected, Republican officials are hiding in the shadows without making any true attempt to restore your right to bear arms.

That’s why Texas Gun Rights is forcing their hand by leading the charge to get a recorded vote on Constitutional Carry in 2019!

House Bill 357, the 2019 Constitutional Carry bill, has NOT yet received a hearing.

With the legislative session ending in May, time is of the essence.

So please sign your Constitutional Carry petition to your elected officials RIGHT AWAY.

Your signed petition will send a loud-and-clear message to the Austin political establishment to support Constitutional Carry or face the political consequences.

Texas politicians seemingly believe that you should continue begging government bureaucrats for a permission slip to exercise your constitutionally-protected right.

In fact, for the past several years, Constitutional Carry was killed by Republican leadership.

In 2017, Republican State Representative Phil King KILLED Constitutional Carry in his Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee without so much as a public vote.

In 2015, it was then State Representative Dennis Bonnen who gaveled down Representative Jonathan Stickland’s attempt to force a recorded vote for a Constitutional Carry amendment on the House floor.

Now, Bonnen has taken the reins of power and leads the Texas House as Speaker.

Without your support, Republican leadership will squash Constitutional Carry once again in 2019.

But the good news is they are listening.

Speaker Bonnen recently faced the wrath of gun owners after appointing anti-gun Democrats to Chair the committees historically responsible for all gun legislation.

Capitol insiders report that Poncho Nevarez specifically requested to Chair the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee — with the sole purpose of killing Constitutional Carry — and Speaker Bonnen gave it to him.

But thanks to the voices of thousands of pro-gun Texans, encouraging Bonnen to reverse course, it appears that Bonnen might be trying to make amends…

…and is reportedly making private promises to give a quick committee hearing to Constitutional Carry.

Of course, actions speak much louder than words, so we must always take the words of politicians with a grain of salt.

As it stands, a hearing still has NOT been scheduled for Constitutional Carry.

And the clock is ticking.

Constitutional Carry is a simple concept.

Law-abiding citizens should be able to carry a handgun for self-defense without begging government for permission.

It’s basically the Second Amendment in its purest form.

If passed, Texas would become the 16th state with Constitutional Carry as law of the land.

Just this year, the state legislatures of South Dakota, Kentucky, AND Oklahoma all passed Constitutional Carry bills into law.

Not only that, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt made it a priority to make sure Constitutional Carry was the first bill he ever signed.

Just like in football, Oklahoma beat Texas once again.

As we dive further into the legislative session, the window of opportunity to get a vote on Constitutional Carry is rapidly closing.

That’s why it’s absolutely vital for you and me to turn up the pressure on Speaker Bonnen and your legislators to advance Constitutional Carry!

So please sign your Constitutional Carry petition right away.

Along with your signed Constitutional Carry petition, I hope you will make a donation of $100, $50, or $35 to help Texas Gun Rights continue grassroots pressure in support of Constitutional Carry.

This battle is expensive, and we need your help.

Remember, the anti-gun Left is well funded and well organized. After a few victories in Texas’ urban counties during the November election, they are energized to crush Constitutional Carry before it even gets off the ground.

And as recently as February, hundreds of Bloomberg-funded “Moms Against Guns” activists swarmed the capitol to oppose this monumental legislation.

Your help is crucial. In fact, we simply can’t win without you.

Thank you for your support, Chris.
