Pam Bondi Launches Second Amendment Task Force — Rocky Mountain Gun Owners Call for Help

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has launched a dedicated Second Amendment Task Force under the Department of Justice.

The mission? To investigate and challenge unconstitutional state firearm restrictions — particularly those coming out of deep-blue states like California, New York, and now, Colorado.

And Colorado is wasting no time in cementing itself as a front-runner in the race to the bottom to trample gun rights.

Just days after Bondi’s announcement, Governor Jared Polis signed SB25-003, one of the most sweeping pieces of anti-gun legislation in state history, into law.

The bill introduces a backdoor gun registration scheme disguised as a “permit-to-purchase” program for most semiautomatic firearms — and bans rapid-fire devices like bump stocks.

The law creates criminal penalties for violations and opens the door to future confiscation schemes by disqualifying those convicted under it from future firearm transfers.

While it technically does not ban existing firearms already in possession, gun rights advocates warn that the law sets a dangerous precedent and effectively implements a de facto universal gun registry.

Enter Rocky Mountain Gun Owners (RMGO). Executive Director Ian Escalante is sounding the alarm — and calling for backup.

“Colorado has become ground zero for the most sweeping violations of the Second Amendment in the nation,” said Escalante. “We’ve watched this state transform into California on steroids, and it’s time for the DOJ to step in and defend the Constitution.”

In just four years, Colorado has:

  • Expanded red flag gun confiscation laws to include reports from therapists and teachers
  • Banned firearm and ammo purchases for adults under 21
  • Prohibited home firearm manufacturing
  • Subjected gun stores to crippling lawsuits and excessive regulation
  • Imposed a 6.5% tax on firearms and ammunition
  • Mandated financial tracking of gun-related purchases via credit cards
  • Enacted censorship-style policies targeting 2A content on social media

Now, with SB25-003’s passage, RMGO is urging Attorney General Bondi to make Colorado a top priority for investigation.

The group has launched a nationwide petition calling for federal intervention, pledging to physically deliver every signature to Bondi’s office in Washington, D.C.

Escalante’s message is clear: “It’s time for AG Bondi to put her money where her mouth is.”

Gun rights leaders nationwide, including Texas Gun Rights, are applauding Bondi’s creation of the Task Force — but emphasize that it must move swiftly and decisively.

With a deeply divided country and blue states going full steam ahead on gun control, the window to act is narrow.

Texas Gun Rights President Chris McNutt commented: “Colorado is proof that the gun control lobby is emboldened. It’s time to go on offense — not just in Washington but in the states, too. AG Bondi’s task force is a great start, but it’s only as effective as the political will behind it.”

As blue states continue their march toward gun control extremism, the DOJ’s new task force could prove to be a critical check — but only if it answers the call in time.
