Tell Governor Abbott: No gun control, no deals!
August 7, 2019,
This is urgent, so I’ll get straight to the point.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Governor Greg Abbott, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, and Speaker Dennis Bonnen are meeting with the Texas legislative delegation for El Paso today.
After the recent events in El Paso and Dayton, I’m worried about the outcome of this meeting.
El Paso’s State Representative Joe Moody is the House author of the “Red Flag” gun confiscation bill.
And Speaker Bonnen appointed Moody to serve as his Speaker Pro Tempore, the second most powerful position in the Texas House.
Not only that, Jose Rodriguez is the area’s State Senator, and Senate author of the same “Red Flag” gun confiscation bill!
With President Trump joining the gun control lobby’s demands for “Red Flag” laws — and also scheduled to visit El Paso today — I’m worried Governor Abbott will cave to their demands by calling a special session for gun control.
So please call Governor Abbott at (512) 463-1782 and respectfully urge him to oppose ALL gun control!
Your message can be as simple as:
“Please refuse ALL requests for a gun control special session and say no to ALL gun control, especially ‘Red Flag’ gun confiscation orders. Texas Gun Rights will keep me informed of your actions.”
If Texas passes “Red Flag” laws, it’ll be a nightmare come true for gun owners.
Imagine awaking to a loud banging on your front door in the middle of the night.
All of a sudden, government agents burst through your door — demanding you turn over your legally-owned firearms.
You’ve received no notice and haven’t even been charged with a crime.
But someone down the street saw your “pro-gun” bumper sticker and doesn’t like it, or an estranged family member can’t stand your political views, and decided you were a threat to yourself and others, so they called the cops.
Contrary to the claims of “Red Flag” proponents, there is no due process and there is certainly no presumption of innocence, both of which are the bedrock of the American judicial system.
Following the 2018 tragedy in Santa Fe, TX, Governor Abbott called on the Texas Legislature to study “Red Flag” gun confiscation orders.
After TXGR rang the alarm, your phone calls melted phone lines at the Capitol, forcing Abbott to back track on his support for “Red Flag” and making Dan Patrick declare it “dead on arrival” in the Senate.
With your help, we can STOP “Red Flag” gun confiscation once again.
But with a renewed push for “Red Flag” gun confiscation laws after a fresh tragedy, Governor Abbott and Texas Republicans are under immense pressure to act.
And anti-gun Democrats Diego Bernal and Roland Gutierrez are already demanding Governor Abbott call a Special Session of the legislature to do just that.
So please call Governor Abbott at (512) 463-1782 and respectfully urge him to oppose ALL gun control!
