Weatherford, TX — In a move solidifying the leftward shift of the Texas Democratic Party, progressive activist and prolific fundraiser Kolby Duhon has been elected as the party’s new Vice Chair for Finance.
Duhon’s appointment comes amid growing coordination between national progressive networks and Texas-based organizers aiming to turn the Lone Star State into the next political battleground — with gun rights, parental authority, and traditional values in the crosshairs.
Duhon’s political style is combative, ideological, and unapologetically left-wing.
His public X history reveals not only a disdain for Second Amendment values but also vocal support for radical positions on youth gender ideology — including the medical alteration of minors.
Dismissive of Faith, Openly Hostile to Gun Rights
Duhon’s social media shows a clear pattern of anti-gun rhetoric.
In response to a 2019 mass shooting, he wrote:
“Our community is stronger than the collective ‘thoughts and prayers’ that will be sent our way after this tragedy… Our generation will have the courage to finally stand up and end this senseless gun [violence] once and for all. Enough.”— @KolbyDuhon, Aug 3, 2019
“Police violence is also gun violence.”— @KolbyDuhon, Oct 15, 2019
“‘Thoughts and prayers,’ he said. As useless as when gun violence plagues our communities.”— @KolbyDuhon, Apr 2, 2024 (in reply to President Biden)
Taken together, these tweets paint a picture of a party official who not only rejects the spiritual and cultural values held by millions of Texans — but who also champions federal-style gun control messaging that is often used to justify banning entire categories of firearms from lawful citizens.
Radical Views on Minors and Medical Transitioning
Duhon’s radicalism extends beyond firearms.
He has been equally vocal in supporting irreversible medical gender procedures for minors — a stance most Texans, including a growing number of moderate Democrats, reject.
In May 2023, when Democratic State Rep. Shawn Thierry released a statement explaining her support for raising the minimum age for gender transition procedures to 18, Duhon publicly lashed out:
“Wild to admit you’re a dangerous transphobe out loud. Hope you’ve enjoyed your last term.”
— @KolbyDuhon, May 12, 2023
That tweet — aimed at a fellow Democrat — reveals the depth of Duhon’s ideological rigidity.
He strongly supports medical transition access for children and teenagers, but likely supports Texas Democrats’ efforts to oppose 18-year-old adults having full access to their Second Amendment rights.
For many Texans, that contradiction is as alarming as it is telling.
“Duhon will raise millions to elect candidates who want to castrate kids and disarm lawful citizens,” said Chris McNutt, President of Texas Gun Rights. “That’s not hyperbole — that’s exactly what his tweets and allies show.”
Financing the Progressive Playbook
Though his views may be extreme, Duhon’s fundraising credentials are not in question.
As a former leader of the Texas Young Democrats, he boasts of erasing a $12,000 budget deficit in just three hours and building a donor pipeline that now spans local chapters and national allies.
Now, in his new statewide role, Duhon will be tasked with rebuilding the Texas Democratic Party’s finances, tapping into both grassroots and high-dollar donor bases — including those connected to Texas Majority PAC, a Soros-funded entity working to flip Texas by 2032.
That group is already investing millions in long-term infrastructure and voter mobilization campaigns, and now, with Duhon steering the ship on fundraising, many conservatives believe a more aggressive anti-gun push is on the horizon.
“Duhon is the connective tissue between radical grassroots and radical donors,” said McNutt. “He’s going to fund a slate of candidates who think defending your family is violent, but gender modification for 14-year-olds is progress.”
With Kolby Duhon now holding the checkbook for Texas Democrats, Second Amendment defenders should take note: the next fight over your rights is being funded today.
This isn’t speculation. This is what Duhon has publicly said — and what he has proven he’s willing to raise money to accomplish.
Whether it’s undermining constitutional carry, expanding red flag laws, or silencing faith-based voices with “transphobia” smears, the next year will be critical in the fight for Texas values.
If Democrats intend to flip Texas by leading with candidates and operatives like Kolby Duhon, the lines have been clearly drawn — and for millions of Texans, that means it’s time to push back.
