• TXGR PAC-endorsed Nate Sheets defeats Sid Miller for Agriculture Commissioner
Texas gun owners delivered a political earthquake across the Lone Star State this week — and the results are already sending shockwaves through the Republican establishment in Texas and Washington.
The grassroots will not compromise on the Second Amendment.
Dozens of candidates highlighted on Texas Gun Rights’ “One Big Beautiful Ballot” — identifying candidates who returned the TXGR Candidate Survey with a 100% pro-gun pledge to defend the Second Amendment without compromise — either won their primaries outright or advanced to critical runoff elections.
The results confirm what many political insiders are finally realizing:
The “No Compromise” gun rights movement is growing — and voters are responding.
“For years, politicians thought they could talk like conservatives in Texas and then compromise away our rights in Washington,” said Chris McNutt, President of Texas Gun Rights.
“The grassroots are drawing a line in the sand: defend the Second Amendment without compromise — or find a new job.”
U.S. Senate: Paxton Advances as Cornyn Faces Reckoning
The biggest political shock of the night came in the U.S. Senate race, where Attorney General Ken Paxton — endorsed by Texas Gun Rights PAC — advanced to a runoff against Senator John Cornyn.
For grassroots gun owners, the contrast between the two candidates could not be clearer.
Cornyn has spent years positioning himself as a conservative in Texas while helping advance gun control in Washington.
He was the chief Republican architect of Joe Biden’s Bipartisan Safer Communities Act — the largest federal gun control bill in nearly three decades.
Cornyn also championed Fix NICS, dramatically expanding the federal gun ban registry.
For many gun owners, those actions represented a betrayal.
“John Cornyn has spent years helping Democrats advance gun control in Washington,” said Chris McNutt, President of Texas Gun Rights.
“Texas gun owners are ready to replace career compromisers with leaders who will defend the Second Amendment without apology.”
And Texas voters now have that chance.
The runoff between Paxton and Cornyn will determine whether Texas sends another Washington dealmaker back to the Senate — or a constitutional fighter who has spent years battling federal overreach in court.
CD-2: Crenshaw’s Red Flag Agenda Finally Catches Up
One of the most dramatic results of the night came in Texas’ 2nd Congressional District, where State Rep. Steve Toth — endorsed by Texas Gun Rights PAC — defeated four-term Congressman Dan Crenshaw.
Crenshaw spent years promoting Red Flag gun confiscation laws, which allow firearms to be seized from citizens without due process.
Even though he seemingly backed off of that stance, many gun owners never forgot that betrayal.
Crenshaw also refused to return the Texas Gun Rights Candidate Survey during his entire time in public office, leaving voters without answers about his stance on critical Second Amendment issues.
In the end, grassroots voters chose a candidate who pledged to defend constitutional rights without compromise.
CD-9: Briscoe Cain Advances After Leading Fight Against Red Flag Laws
In Texas’ 9th Congressional District, State Rep. Briscoe Cain — endorsed by Texas Gun Rights PAC — advanced to a runoff election.
Cain helped lead the fight in the Texas Legislature to ban Red Flag gun confiscation laws in Texas and played a key role in advancing Constitutional Carry.
CD-23: Brandon Herrera Energizes Gun Owners Nationwide
In Texas’ 23rd Congressional District, gun rights activist Brandon Herrera advanced to a runoff after earning the endorsement of Texas Gun Rights PAC.
Herrera has testified before Congress and in state legislatures across the country defending the Second Amendment and opposing gun control.
He has also joined national efforts to abolish the ATF.
CD-32: Longtime Grassroots Ally Advances
The Republican primary in Texas’ 32nd Congressional District produced another strong result for gun owners.
Jace Yarbrough — endorsed by Texas Gun Rights PAC — advanced to the runoff election.
Yarbrough has long been a grassroots ally of Texas Gun Rights, working alongside activists across Texas to defend the Second Amendment.
Statewide Victories for No-Compromise Candidates
Gun owners having an outspoken gun rights allies on the statewide level, in a state like Texas, will only serve to help influence pro-gun policy in the state, and these pro-gun statewide candidates won big:
- Dan Patrick for Lt. Governor
- Don Huffines for Comptroller
- Nate Sheets for Agriculture Commissioner
- Dawn Buckingham for Land Commissioner
One race drew particular attention:
Incumbent Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller was defeated by Texas Gun Rights PAC-endorsed candidate Nate Sheets, after Miller had become cross with several grassroots conservative leaders — including Texas Gun Rights President Chris McNutt.
Several key races now move to runoff elections:
- Ken Paxton for U.S. Senate
- Chip Roy & Mayes Middleton for Texas Attorney General (Both candidates returned a pro-gun pledge, and Texas Gun Rights PAC is considering an endorsement in the race).
- Bo French for Railroad Commissioner
- Briscoe Cain for CD-9
- Brandon Herrera for CD-23
- Jace Yarbrough & Ryan Binkley for CD-32 (Both candidates returned a pro-gun pledge, but TXGR PAC has endorsed Yarbrough)
The stakes could not be higher.
If John Cornyn survives the runoff, Washington politicians will take it as a green light to continue cutting deals with Democrats on gun control.
But if grassroots voters replace Cornyn with Ken Paxton, it could mark one of the most significant Second Amendment victories in modern Texas history.
One thing is already clear:
Texas gun owners are no longer willing to accept politicians who campaign as pro-gun conservatives but compromise once they reach Washington or Austin.
