Of all cities for the Democratic Party to host their national convention, Chicago, Illinois was undoubtedly the most fitting.
The crime-infested Windy City serves as a beacon for leftwing policy and just how disastrous it’s implementation affects native residents. In what can only be described as a bold move, the Democrats “joyfully” promoted their political ambitions in a town that perfectly encapsulates their own inherent failures, and acts as a representative warning to voters across the nation of the results of Democratic leadership.
A Republican has not held mayorship in Chicago since 1931, giving the city nearly 100 years of solidified Democrat power. Today, the city leads the nation in homicide rates and gun violence, lending validity to its slang-name of “Chiraq.” Dozens of people are shot nearly every weekend in Chicago, and all forms of violent crime aside from murder are commonplace as well. This remains the case despite the fact that Chicago boasts some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the entire nation.
Gun purchases in Chicago require extensive and mandatory background checks, as well as a government-provided permit. The city, along with neighboring counties, uphold bans on so-called “assault rifles,” a policy that has been fiercely promoted by the Democratic Party for decades. Additionally, it is illegal to forge or manufacture one’s own firearms, which are labeled with the moniker of “ghost guns,” and strictly prohibited.
With this extensive list of restrictions that leftists claim deter gun violence and prevent unnecessary deaths, one would think Chicago a safe haven, free of crime and injustice. Unfortunately, and expectedly, this assessment could not be further from the truth.
As has been proven time and time again, gun control laws do not work, and serve only to disarm law abiding Americans, leaving them defenseless against the evil whims of violent criminals and tyrants. Simultaneously, they embolden said criminals, who will get their hands on guns no matter the legal barriers, to more easily victimize their targets. In essence, gun control laws permit the government to do half of the criminals’ jobs for them.
Regardless, the Democrats excitedly promoted their agenda alongside newly installed presidential candidate Kamala Harris. They championed the implementation of Chicago-style gun control measures on the national level, with the gun-grabbing VP emphasizing her promises to disarm law-abiding Americans and violate their Second Amendment rights.
