A new study published in the editorial journal, Political Behavior, divulged a shocking and unexpected link between one’s level of trust in the federal government and their support for gun control policies.
Such a staggering revelation, is it not?
The investigation examined degrees of favorability towards increasingly restrictive gun control implementation and how it correlated with a subject’s trust in the federal government. Republicans and Democrats alike were studied in order to account for additional factors such as party loyalty. While Republicans as a whole are intrinsically more skeptical of government intervention and expansion, there were Republican members within the examination who held more sympathetic and trusting views towards authoritarian institutions. Expectedly, those individuals were less inclined to oppose firearm restriction or support the expansion of constitutional rights.
Interestingly, levels of trust in the federal government did not correlate whatsoever with changes in gun control support among the Democratic members in the study group. Based on this, researchers concluded that party affiliation holds a greater bearing on political beliefs than inherent ideological beliefs, at least in relation to gun control. Echo-chamber arguments, attitudes of party leaders and social in-group bias appear to be more contributive factors to leftists than anything else.
This finding perhaps explains some of the inherent hypocrisies, contradictions, and double-think within left-wing logical frameworks. For example, radical leftists who supported “defunding the police,” during the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020 were also widely in favor of gun control. While they held oppositional attitudes towards government authority, they simultaneously believed that only the government should have guns, and also in granting the government the ability to confiscate firearms from law-abiding citizens. Obviously, political loyalty and opportunism was of greater importance to this movement than a coherent resistance to government tyranny and oppression.
“Trust in the federal government plays a key role in shaping Republicans’ attitudes toward gun control, according to a new study published in Political Behavior. The findings indicate that Republicans who trust the government are much more likely to back gun control reforms. Notably, the research also highlights that partisanship is a stronger influence than political ideology when it comes to shaping Americans’ views on gun control policies, suggesting that attitudes toward gun reform are more driven by party loyalty and cues from political leaders than by deeply held ideological beliefs.”
Putting sarcasm to the side, the results of this study were and still are blatantly obvious, and the question could’ve been answered by any gun rights advocate in America. Firearm enthusiasts possess justifiable skepticism and suspicion towards governmental entities, which are rife with corruption and have a more than significant history of oppressive tendencies and the violation of human rights on a global scale. Governments routinely engage in violence against their own people, and
The United States was explicitly founded on a belief in limited government and God-given rights that must not be infringed upon, the right to bear arms being the most crucial of all.
Gun control policies consistently put the American people at greater risk by revoking their ability to defend themselves. Real American Patriots, however, will not stand for it much longer. Gun owners across the country, and especially here in Texas, are saying no to government tyranny, human rights infringements, and every weak minded fool pushing for authoritarian enslavement.
