President Trump Promises Concealed Carry Reciprocity in His Second Term

By all accounts, it appears that President Donald J. Trump’s second term in the White House is shaping up to bring massive victories for the Second Amendment nationwide.

Having dramatically increased his pro-2A messaging while running against the most anti-gun presidential candidate in American history, Kamala Harris, Trump hasn’t stalled in his promotion of legislation that will expand self-defense rights since his landslide victory on November 5th. Most prominently, Trump is calling for nationwide concealed carry reciprocity, which would mandate every state to respect the concealed carry permits of out-of-state travelers. No longer will the act of crossing certain state lines strip law-abiding Americans of their God-given right to bear arms.

In a recent statement, Trump announced: “I will protect the right of self-defense everywhere it is under siege, and I will sign concealed carry reciprocity. Your Second Amendment does not end at the state line.” If Republicans successfully pass such a bill, each state will be required to honor concealed carry permits, even the most far-left, tyrannical one’s like California or Massachusetts. Such a law would save gun owners everywhere from unjust incarceration, eliminating interstate confusion towards the right to carry firearms.

This statement serves as a reinforcement of a previous campaign promise he made at the NRA Convention in 2023, when he similarly stated: “I will ask congress to send a bill to my desk delivering national concealed carry reciprocity. We want protection. Just like your drivers license or your marriage license, your Second Amendment must apply across state lines. It will, we’ll get it done pretty quickly, too!” Trump has additionally promised to “roll back every Biden attack on the Second Amendment,” referencing the many infringements enacted by the Biden/Harris Regime over the past four years, including the “Bi-Partisan” Safer Communities Act.

In 2017, during President Trump’s first term in office, the House of Representatives successfully passed a concealed carry reciprocity bill that was disappointingly killed in the Senate, despite having a Republican majority. Going into 2025, however, the Senate Republican majority has been expanded to 53, which may prove to be effectively RINO-proof and therefore capable of ascertaining meaningful victories for the American gun owner.

The passing of concealed carry reciprocity would constitute one of the greatest victories for Second Amendment rights at the federal level in decades. It would be especially helpful to gun owners living under the thumb of big government tyranny in blue states. With a Republican trifecta in D.C., however, such a bill is the bare minimum in terms of what elected officials can, and are mandated to do for their constituents. With 29 states already having passed Constitutional Carry as the law of their respective lands, it is high time for the Republicans to use their newfound and overwhelming majority to solidify gun rights nationwide. Americans don’t need a license to use their First Amendment rights, and they should be required for the Second either. President Trump must be given the opportunity to sign his name on Representative Thomas Massie’s National Constitutional Carry bill.

Of course, achieving such a goal would require anti-Second Amendment RINO’s such as John Cornyn to NOT succeed Mitch McConnell as the Senate Majority Leader. At all costs, Cornyn must be prevented from attaining such a powerful position that could jeopardize the Trump Administration at every turn. Contact your Senators here to let them know that you do NOT support Cornyn as Majority Leader.
