Will Governor Abbott cave on gun control?

My heart is aching for my fellow Texans and Americans.
In what can only be described as an act of pure evil, the communities of El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio were rocked by individuals consumed with hate.
The last thing our country needs in a time like this is more division.
We need God.
We should “comfort each other and edify one another” as prescribed in 1 Thessalonians 5:11.
Yet the gun control crowd and their allies in the media are pouncing on the opportunity to further rip our country apart.
Even though the crime scenes are still being processed, anti-gun vultures are swooping in for political gain.
Failed U.S. Senate candidate and now Presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke is calling for universal gun registration, outright gun bans, and due process-shredding “Red Flag” laws.
Not surprisingly, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris are echoing his demands.
Instead of placing the blame on violent criminals and terrorists who slaughtered their fellow citizens, they want to blame you and me.
But don’t be fooled, Chris.
Democrats aren’t the only ones seizing the opportunity to gain favor with the anti-gun media.
Even Republicans like freshman Congressman Dan Crenshaw(R-TX-CD2) are calling on D.C. and Austin to pass “Red Flag” gun confiscation orders.
And with Governor Abbott signaling support for “Red Flag” gun confiscation orders as recently as last year, I’m afraid we might be on the brink of a gun control special session in the Texas Legislature…just as we saw in Virginia earlier this year.
This is shaping up to be a worst case scenario for gun owners.
Living in Texas, I never imagined our elected officials would consider more gun control as a feasible solution.
Yet here we are.
Instead of ramming more deadly gun controls down our throats, politicians should be fighting for life-saving pro-gun reforms.
Policies like eliminating so-called “gun free” zones that turn law-abiding citizens into sitting ducks for killers in places they visit every day.
And going on offense by passing Constitutional Carry — leveling the playing for law-abiding Texans to be their own first line of defense.
After all, when every second matters, the police are always minutes away.
As we take time to regroup for the impending onslaught on our Second Amendment rights, I ask that you pray.
Pray that God give comfort to those who lost a loved one.
Pray that ALL Americans stand united during these pressing times.
Pray that our elected officials have the courage to stand strong against the calls for more gun control that inevitably follow every tragedy.
