Texas Gun Rights commends the Attorney General for his quick and decisive action in sending a letter to the Texas State Fair warning them to lift its recently announced gun ban. When we approached the AG’s office about the issue earlier this week, they informed us they were already working on it. We appreciate his leadership on the issue and steadfast commitment to protecting the Second Amendment rights of Texans.

The Texas State Fair Security recently announced that fairgoers, including those with a  License to Carry, will not be allowed to possess a firearm within the fairgrounds during the upcoming Texas State Fair. This policy, however, is a feel-good measure that leaves fairgoers as sitting ducks should a threat arise.

“We are grateful for the Attorney General’s swift action and strong support for the Second Amendment,” said Chris McNutt, President of Texas Gun Rights. “It’s crucial that lawful gun owners are not stripped of their right to self-defense, especially at a public event like the Texas State Fair.”

The facts make it clear: Texas is a safer place when Texans have the ability to protect themselves. Gun-free zones make that impossible. Texas Gun Rights, along with a coalition of over 70 lawmakers and lawmaker-elects, are calling on the Texas State Fair to rescind this new policy immediately and allow lawful gun owners their God-given right to self-defense while on the fairgrounds.
