Texas Gun Rights (TXGR) is calling on President Donald Trump to immediately dismantle the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention upon returning to the Oval Office.
Established under the Biden administration and funded through the Cornyn-Biden Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022, the office has become a central hub for pushing radical anti-gun policies through executive fiat.
Chris McNutt, President of Texas Gun Rights, has denounced the office as a direct assault on the rights of law-abiding gun owners. “The so-called White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention is nothing more than a weaponized arm of the anti-gun lobby,” McNutt said. “It funnels millions of taxpayer dollars into unconstitutional programs that demonize gun ownership, implement red flag laws, and create unnecessary barriers for law-abiding citizens.”
The office, staffed by long-time gun control activists, has been responsible for advancing sweeping anti-gun measures, including funding state-level red flag laws and spending over $270 million on controversial “violence intervention programs.”
Many of these programs have been criticized for lacking transparency and accountability, with reports of taxpayer funds being misused in cities like Philadelphia.
McNutt highlighted the office’s role in undermining the Second Amendment, saying, “This is a direct result of the Biden-Cornyn Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which provided the funding and cover needed to attack our rights under the guise of public safety.”
With Trump preparing to assume office in January, TXGR is urging him to eliminate the office entirely and replace it with initiatives that promote responsible gun ownership.
McNutt believes the office represents a dangerous precedent by allowing unelected bureaucrats to bypass Congress and impose unconstitutional restrictions on gun owners. “This office should be dismantled on day one,” McNutt said. “It was created to appease the anti-gun elite and should have no place in an administration that respects the Constitution.”
Texas Gun Rights is mobilizing its grassroots supporters to hold politicians accountable and ensure the anti-gun agenda is reversed. “Gun owners sent a loud and clear message during the 2024 elections. The fight doesn’t stop here; it’s time to demand real action to defend our rights,” McNutt said.
He added that dismantling the office is only the first step, calling for a renewed focus on advancing pro-gun legislation like Rep. Thomas Massie’s National Constitutional Carry Act and the SHUSH suppressor deregulation act should also be a top priority for the Republican trifecta in office.
McNutt continued taking aim at the role of Texas Senator John Cornyn in enabling the office’s creation. “Cornyn’s role in passing the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act cannot be overlooked. He handed Biden the keys to attack our rights, and gun owners won’t forget it” McNutt said, reiterating his commitment to fighting back against any politician—Republican or Democrat—who undermines the Second Amendment.
Cornyn recently lost his bid as U.S. Senate Majority Leader, largely due to his past gun control sins.
